The thesis was made in collaboration with the central hospital of Kanta-Häme. The output of this practice based thesis was guide leaflets for neurological ward. The leaflets contain information about neurological deficiencies. The idea for this thesis came from the request of the ward.

The aim of this thesis was to give more information about the patient’s illness to their relatives and improve the informing of the relatives. The leaflets are made to be handed out for patients’ relatives.

The theoretical part of this thesis deals with the neurological deficiencies as concepts and the nursing of the deficiencies. The theoretical part covers also the psychosocial and emotional issues and the importance of the relatives’ involvement in the patient’s rehabilitation. The end of the theoretical part deals with the process of this thesis. The information was found from different internet sources and books.

The development idea for this thesis was to study patient’s relatives’ benefits and phases in the patient’s rehabilitation. Also the practice based part of this thesis could be translated into English for foreigners.
