This thesis was commissioned by Seminaari Elementary School in Hämeenlinna.

The purpose of the thesis was to improve the traffic safety of Seminaari Elementary School pupils near the school. The work focused on the lack of traffic safety caused by escort traffic of parents by private cars and on looking for workable solutions to the issue. Objective of the project was to offer solutions that could be quickly executed and would be cost-effective. In addition there were larger and safer solutions offered.

When exploring the case and the problems there, field-trips were made to the location and a Webropol internet-survey was conducted for the parents. Improvement options were analyzed and developed using the knowledge gained from the traffic management courses at HAMK University of Applied Sciences.

As a result, five recommendations for improvements were made which would add clarity and safety near Seminaari Elementary School focusing mainly on the escort traffic of parents. The objective of the improvement recommendations was a clarification of escort traffic localization and to provide a safe passage from and to escort traffic places.
