This Bachelor’s thesis was a qualitative research, based on three different photography projects and the process that emerged from them. The author was the photographer and the model in these projects. Two of the projects also involved another person. The purpose of Bachelor’s thesis was to describe the three projects, the process as well as experiences and knowledge gained by those involved. The main goal was to shed light on the meaningfulness of narrative artistic photographic process. Another goal was to show that a process experience enhances the skills and professional identity of an instructor of culture and arts activities.

The theoretic basis of this study consists of phenomenology, therapeutic photography and experiential process. The main concepts in this thesis were photograph, narrative artistic working, information gained through experiences, professional and personal identity work and as well as working as an instructor of culture and arts. The research material consisted of literature related to the topic, a research diary and photographs taken during the projects.

The results of this thesis consisted of the meanings emerged during the process. The meanings were a gaze, different directions of gaze, mutuality, subjectivity, exhibiting the narrative artistic work, personal and professional identity work, as well as the importance of experiences to the instructor. Experience and meanings were first perceived from a subjective viewpoint and then transferred to a professional level and viewed from an instructor’s perspective.
