Rohkeutta maallikkoelvytykseen ja defibrillointiin : Koulutus nuorille

Time that passes from cardiac arrest to giving resuscitation and a defibrilla-tion, is mainly determinant to the success of resuscitation. With fast action and courage of a commoner, we can increase the surviving possibilities of a person who is lifeless. In Finland approximately 3000 persons have car-diac arrest yearly outside of hospital and possibilities of surviving are 5- 15%. The possibilities of surviving can be increased by awareness and re-suscitation training and by locating public access defibrillators to public places.

Equipment that support resuscitation, defibrillators, are found at some train stations, airplanes and malls, places that have high risk of having encounter with a person who has had a cardiac arrest. It is a simplified model from a professional defibrillator and it guides the user with sound, text and pictures.

The courage and resuscitation training was held May 5th 2015 at Parola lower secondary school to eight graders. the lesson was 45 minutes long and it contained resuscitation exercises, recovery position drills, defibrillator and defibrillation introduction.

The courage and resuscitating training was based on the theoretical frame-work of the thesis. The thesis consists leading factors to resuscitation, re-suscitation and defibrillator. The main reason of the courage and resuscita-tion training was to encourage adolescents to do the resuscitation if needed and bring them knowledge about the public access defibrillator.
