The purpose of this Bachelor´s thesis was to develop a working method to assess the requirements set on the construction sites to produce quality. The thesis was commissioned by Southern Finland unit of YIT Construction Ltd. The assessment of the quality requirements is done as an internal audit during the construction phase. A Quality engineer assesses the operations of the construction site and compares the results to regulations and targets which have been set on the construction site.

The aim was to find out what requirements the construction sites have to produce quality and to ensure that the operations of the construction site comply with the demands of the process through renewing the audit form of the construction phase. As the requirements to produce quality are found out and the possible challenges are responded to at an early phase an outcome with a better quality is achieved.

The quality and work safety in construction are discussed in the theory section of the thesis. The aim was to find out goals set from the quality and work safety point of view which need to be considered in creating the new audit form.

An old internal audit form for construction sites was used as a basis for the new audit model. In addition, knowledge based on experience was used to select useful topics in the form.

As a result of the thesis a new audit form to evaluate quality producing requirements was drawn up. The audit form will be updated as the processes evolve and renewed to meet the goals of business segments and units.
