The aim of the thesis is to design a print design collection to two defined target rooms child’s bedroom and adult’s bedroom. The print design collection is presented as fabric like pictures in the collection. The purpose of the print design collection is to be used as portfolio material for future job seeking opportunities.

The design process is user–oriented, the main research method used was a survey, and the aim was to see if the answers could be used as a source of information for a design process. Designing a print design collection to two different rooms creates a very interesting opposition, which is interesting to resolve. In addition, the purpose is to create harmony between the two different rooms by designing a print design collection. In addition to the survey, literature is used in the thesis as to present information about how to produce a good survey and what is gained by doing so. This created a good basis for the survey used in the thesis. The survey was created with a research tool Webropol and was sent to as many different target groups as possible to gain as wide a range of answers as possible. The survey was considered very good and useful as the process was user-oriented and the answers were coming straight from the consumers. The survey was very useful to gain information and helped a lot in a design process as to how to find the right colours and pattern shapes. After analyzing the results, the initial designs were redesigned to final print design collection and presented as fabric like pictures.

As a result of the survey, a print design Palaset collection was created including curtains, linen and cushions. Results showed the most popular colours and patterns to be used in the print design collection. In addition, there are also pictures of ceramic tiles and cups with patterns from the collection attached to the items to show that the patterns from the print design collection can also be used elsewhere.
