This thesis project started from author’s own interest in the subject and from supervisor’s introduction to is while searching for a suitable thesis subject. The main goal here was examining the effect weather has on transportation behavior. The starting assumption was that weather had an impact on people’s transportation behavior. This was also shown in outcomes of earlier research on the subject.

This study was conducted through surveys and computational research. From the results it become clear that the weather has an impact on people’s transportation behavior. The largest impact was on bicycle traffic and the second largest impact was on pedestrian traffic. This study should be continued on a wider scale with a longer data collecting time to get more accurate information on the impact of weather on people’s transportation behavior.
