The subject of the thesis was creating a sterile treatment table for small operations. The method of the thesis was functional and the result of the work was carrying out a teaching video for nursing students. The thesis was commissioned by Häme University of Applied Sciences. The teaching video was filmed in cooperation with Loimaa hospital Acute Rehab Ward 2.

The purpose of the thesis was producing a video of a sterile treatment table for a small operation to support other teaching methods, for nursing students. The goal of the thesis was that nursing students’ education can use the teaching video as one of the teaching methods. Nursing students can utilize the video before practical training for example.

In addition to creating the sterile treatment table, in the theory part the significance of aseptics in the generation of infections from the point of view of patient safety was discussed. Many different sources were used in the thesis theory. The oldest source was 11 years old.

As a teaching method, the teaching video has been researched to be working. The utilization of the teaching video in nursing students’ education is advanced. In the theory part of the thesis, the teaching video as a teaching method is dealt with further.
