The purpose of this thesis was to survey the current state of digital information for public transport supported by the City of Tampere. Based on the results of this survey, a part of this project was to make recommendations for action.

The work was commissioned by the City of Tampere. No similar research projects have been carried out for the City of Tampere earlier.

The theory of the research project was based on open data, privacy and public transport literature and the legislation of privacy and public transport.

Based on the results of the current state, the differences between Tampere Regional Transport and Tuomi Logistiikka Oy were clearly identified as to the openness of the data. Tampere Regional Transport has already opened a lot of its data through the interface, while Tuomi Logistiiikka Oy has not done this. Adding and opening data is important for new and improved services.
