The purpose of this Bachelor’s thesis was to examine the structure, energy efficiency and potential problems of a single family house built in the 1970s. The aim was to design renovation measures, assess the functioning of the existing heating system and modernize it to the modern level costeffectively. Another aim was to calculate and improve its energy efficiency value.

The thesis also provides other dwellers living in a detached house built in the 1970s, or planning to buy such a house with information on the problems and important considerations of the houses typical of that time of construction. However, each house is different, so the problems pointed out in this thesis cannot be considered universal in all the low-rise houses built in the 1970s.
