ABSTRACT

This thesis concentrates on a very common form of employment –rental work through an agency. The purpose of this thesis was to study agency work and the opinions expressed by higher education students. The questionnaire tried to find out what kind of thoughts the agency work would raise. The topic of the thesis was chosen from the author's own interest in rental work. The author's own work experience also influenced the selection of the subject because there was the point of view of the employee and the employer.

The basis for the thesis was existing literature and labor law. The research part was carried out by using a network survey consisting of 16 questions. The questionnaire was essentially a structured questionnaire in which most of the questions included a number of response options. The survey was conducted in January 2018 and the research method was quantitative.

The questionnaire was answered by a total of 48 students from various degree programs of Häme University of Applied Sciences. Based on the results, it can be concluded that employment though an agency divides opinions even in smaller groups, regardless of participants having own experience about agency work or not. However, people with own experience about agency work, seemed to have more positive opinions about it than people who did not have any experience at all. The poor level of wages and the terms of employment came up frequently in the results, but temporary work was also considered to have a positive impact, especially for companies.
