Särkyneestä ehyeksi – Perehdytyskansio lastensuojelun ohjaajille

The number of taking children into custody has risen in Finland over the past few years, which means that more expertise is needed in the field. Child who lives in a child welfare institution, have been found to have varying degrees of attachment and emotional regulation problems, that expose children to various mental illnesses.

The thesis was implemented as a functional thesis. In the theses theoretical knowledge was examined based on the role of the instructor in the institution, the normal mental development of the child during the first three years and during the early infant stage development of the childhood attachment relationship. In the thesis, the main focus was on the origin of the attachment disorder and the factors that contribute to mental recovery in the life of the child before taken in to custody and during the living period in the institution. The orientation folder, created in the thesis, guides new instructors for institutional education to work with children based on factual knowledge and researched data practice. Furthermore, the theoretical part of the orientation folder and it´s topics were discussed so that the instructor is able to transfer information from the theoretical part into practice to ensure the child's psychological health. In attidion, the purpose of the orientation folder was thus to support the professional attitude of the instructors and to give instructors the opportunity to look at their professionalism and to develop their profession. The commission of the thesis was a private child welfare institution named Kotipesä Oy in Loimaa.
