This thesis introduces search engine optimization (SEO) and customer analysis. The purpose of the thesis was to plan the guide for the company’s search engine optimization. The theoretical reference point of the thesis focuses on search engine optimization and Google´s operating principles. The thesis examines how search engine optimization is done in practice.

The thesis was commissioned by Katinala Live Oy, an event engineering company. Katinala Live Oy is a company operating under Torvinen Showtekniikka together with Katinala Av. The web pages which optimization guidelines were made are common to both companies. The theoretical section of the thesis focuses on search engine optimization and Google´s operating principles. The result of the thesis is the construction of a comprehensive study and provide a comprehensive guide to the design of the Torvinen website to increase visibility. Torvinen gets a keyword list of words that should be utilized on the website as well as customer profile cards.

The result of the thesis was the creation of guidelines for search engine optimization with a separate profiled part for Torvinen. The guidance can be used to optimize the websites of other companies. The guide is very clear and easy to read so it can utilize the inexperienced optimizer. The thesis process was a truly educational step into a previously unknown search engine optimization world.
