The purpose of this Bachelor’s thesis was to construct a compacted guide of lichen sclerosus et atrophicus for gynecological clinic of Kanta-Häme Central Hospital. The aim was to gather sufficiently versatile and explicit package of information for gynecological clients. The guide was specifically meant for those clients who have already been diagnosed with lichen sclerosus et atrophicus or it is suspected. The topic of the Bachelor’s thesis was chosen mainly on the basis of the client’s wishes and needs.

The thesis was carried out on the basis of practice based model. The result of this work was a guide based on the theoretical part of the thesis. The content of the guide was meant to become as short as concise as possible to make it quick and easy to read. In addition, the guide was meant to lead the patient subtly on the serious topic. A nature picture and humorous aphorism were attached to the guide in order to ease the approach on the topic.

The guide was designed and carried out in collaboration with the client. The main responsibility for carrying out the work was the student taking into account the client’s wishes and opinions. The guide contains essential information about the disease and it’s diagnosis. In the content, the emphasis was placed on treatment options and the importance of monitoring the disease.

The guide was made for the client’s use in both electronic and written form. The guide was edited based on the client’s opinions at the end of the work. The guide was given to the client on 22nd of November 2018.
