The objective of this thesis is to bring up special characteristics of wood transport and harvest in the archipelago forests. What special characteristics and typical features wood transports and harvests have in archipelago? Additionally, this thesis covers the costs and profitability of harvests and transports, archipelagos as working environments and other effective factors that affect harvests and transports. The thesis also studies the wood transport, transport methods and the challenges of transport. The harvesting process and the possibilities and challenges of harvest are also studied. Additionally, this thesis brings up what extra costs do harvests, and wood transports of the archipelago forests bring and how profitable those are. At the end, this thesis explains the other effective factors that have effects on the harvests and wood transports of the archipelago forests. The harvests of the archipelagos are challenging for their conditions, expensive and time consuming but also necessary and profitable. The clearest special characteristic is the wood transports that are done with waterway transports. The harvests of the archipelago forests and other harvests have differences and harvests of the archipelago forests have many special characteristics that this thesis will bring up more clearly.
