Thesis was made in co-operation with YTYÄ-project (surrounding society as an enriching environment) and Tavastia´s Ammattistartti, both of them operating in Hämeenlinna area. Purpose of this thesis was to produce research information of experiences and effects on enriching learning environments which develop life management skills and the influence of these enriching environments in the student`s further education plans. The main focus was the possibility of being part of the work aiming to alterate schoolculture more supportive and inclusive and this way prevent a risk of social exclusion.

The theoretical basis of the thesis consisted of sociocultural animation, participation, life management skills and enriching learning environments which were the main theories in the background in prevention a risk of social exclusion.The theoretical background also deals with exclusion as a social phenomenon and how this exclusion affects on young person´s life. The research was executed as a qualitative case study and background information was collected by a questionnaire and thematic interview. The analysis method was inductive thematizing.

The research shows that Tavastia´s Ammattistartti by it´s teachers has succeeded in animation, improving life management skills and in creating a feeling of participation among the students. According to the research life management skills and inclusion develop by practical training, excursions, group work and spirit in the class. As a result of the research can also be shown that the enriching environments in Tavastia´s Ammattistartti had influence on students´ further education plans. More than half of the students found a new occupational field and every student made an application for further education.
