The purpose of this thesis was to find out more efficient ways to search engine marketing and their impact on the profitability of the company. Thesis was commissioned by the T:mi Tuomas Kuusinen, who maintains a web store called Kukkodaa.com.

The theoretical background consists of the definition of search engine marketing and related terms, as well as its implementation. The other part deals with the company’s profitability and different ways it is measured.

The current situation of the company was found out by making a theme interview. The interview included questions from three different main subject areas: search engine marketing, other marketing methods and company’s profitability. The interview was conducted via e-mail in two different parts. The first part of the interview consisted of general questions and in the second part the questions were more specific.

Developing proposals for search engine marketing and other forms of online advertising were found on the basis of the interview responses and other studies found from the internet. The entrepreneur has not followed the profitability ratios before so in the future keeping up with the ratios would give better qualifications to improve the company’s operations.
