Utilization of waste components is part of a company’s business. Especial-ly recycling of metals brings significant incomes to companies. Utilization of waste components should be developed even further in the Forssa re-gion. At this moment companies recycle most of their waste components but those components which are economically unprofitable to utilize or utilization of which is difficult still end up to landfill. That kind of waste is produced by almost all companies.

This Bachelor’s Thesis was commissioned by Forssa Region Development Centre Ltd. The main roles of the Development Centre are regional eco-nomic planning and implementation in cooperation with the municipalities and businesses and undertaking development projects in the Forssa region. The target of the thesis was to find out industrial enterprises’ interest in waste management, reutilization and what waste components are possible to be recycled in the future. The theory of thesis was about Finland’s and European Union’s legislation of waste and other directions. The theory al-so concerns waste components which according to the companies are dif-ficult to recycle. The work considered what possibilities for the utilization of components there could be.

The report was executed by interviews. The interviewed companies were broadly interested in the better use of waste. Most of the companies were interested in utilization if it brings some economic benefit. Some of the companies also appreciated benefits for the environment.
