Verkkopohjainen WSP- malli ja siihen liittyvä viranomaisyhteistyö Hämeenlinnan seudulla

The World Health Organization (WHO) drew up principles for the Water safety Plan, WSP, in 2003 covering the production of drinking water from the ground water area to the consumer’s tap. Finland is running a project to establish a national drinking water safety plan.

Reports of national WSP working group and other material were used in the thesis. The thesis concentrated on the extended WSP-model, in which the safety of drinking water would be taken into consideration in all as-pects of social and national decision making.

There is plenty of theoretical knowledge available of WSP-model and the authorities have already been defined in the WSP-model. The purpose of this thesis was to find out what kind of co-operation the introduction of the web-based WSP-model requires between public authorities in the Hämeenlinna Region. The thesis also included informing the various au-thorities of a web-based WSP-model who may have to create and utilize the model in the future.

Two official meetings were arranged for various authorities and a brief presentation on the protection of groundwater was given in the meeting of the Hämeenlinna groundwater protection group. In the meetings authorities were informed of the extended WSP-model which requires plenty of cooperation between the water plant and authorities. A discussion also arose in the meetings about the current practices where the co-operation between the authorities could be further improved.
