The purpose of the thesis was to create a financial statement analysis for a chosen case company. Financial statements from previous three fiscal years were used to create the analysis. The company is located in Southern Fin-land and it has five offices. It works in the electrical installation industry. The objective of the thesis was to analyze the financial statements of the company, construct financial ratios based upon them and compare them to the ratios of other companies in the same industry.

The theory of the thesis is based upon the Accounting Act and relevant lit-erature. The basics of financial statements and financial statement analyses have been covered in the theory part, as well as the essential concepts. The company was compared to companies in the same industry by using finan-cial ratios of profitability, liquidity and solidity. The comparison was made by using the industry statistics issued by Finnvera Oyj. A statement of cash flows and a trend analysis were also created and analyzed in order to generate an extensive outlook of the company and its financial situation. An analysis tool made for BusinessPoint at Häme University of Applied Sciences (HAMK) was used when constructing the financial statement analysis.

A subtle decrease of profitability from the year 2011 to 2013 can be seen from the financial statement analysis. That is one of the areas where the company had a need for improvement. The liquidity and the solidity of the case company were in a reasonably stable level during the observation pe-riod, although the financial ratios varied. The long term liquidity of the case company was also a possible subject for development.
