This Bachelor’s thesis is commissioned by Eino Aaltonen who is the owner of a cattle farm in Sysmä.. The farm will stop cattle farming because of the too big investing need but the action on the farm is going to continue in some other way. Next entrepreneur at the farm after current owners will probably be their son. This thesis introduces things that new entrepreneurs should notice when starting a company and an entrepreneur career and finding new business ideas for the Sysmä farm from the point of view of marketing communications. The thesis emphasizes marketing. The aim of the thesis was to build a practical tool and a guide for a new entrepreneur and for other farms which are in this same situation thinking of giving up the cattle.

The thesis is based on literature of marketing and marketing communica-tions. The thesis consists side by side of theory and applying it to the case of Sysmä farm. Marketing communications for the farm were analyzed on the theory base. The thesis consists of three main parts which are marketing mix, operational environment and customers. These are the most important things to take note at the farm. The marketing mix chapter deals with the competitive factors of a company. The operational environment chapter tells about things that affect to company and the entrepreneur from outside. In the chapter of customers the segmentation of customers comes out and fore and it also deals with with the customer base on the Sysmä farm and the ways to look after customer relationships.

The main result and conclusion of the thesis was emphasizing the im-portance of marketing to new and current entrepreneurs and companies. Choosing the right customer group and the segmentation of customers by their needs is one of the cornerstones.
