Energiapuun kauppamäärät ovat viime vuosina kasvaneet nopeasti metsähakkeen käytön lisäyksen myötä. Tilastotietoa energiapuukaupoista on kuitenkin niukasti tarjolla. Toimitusketjun lopusta, laitospäästä, on jo saatavilla metsähakkeen hinta- ja määrätietoja, mutta ketjun alusta eli metsäpään energiapuukaupoistaei ole olemassa kattavaa, julkista tilastoa. Energiapuumarkkinoiden tehokkaan toiminnan ja kehittymisen kannalta luotettava markkinainformaatio erityisesti energiapuun hinnoista on kuitenkinensisijaisen tärkeää. Metsäntutkimuslaitos (Metla) toteutti maa- ja metsätalousministeriön rahoituksella esiselvityksen energiapuumarkkinoiden käytännöistä, toimijoiden tietotarpeista ja energiapuukaupan tilastoinnin toteutusmahdollisuuksista. Tulosten mukaan energiapuukaupan tilastoinnille on tarvetta jatoimijat suhtautuvat tietojen luovuttamiseen myönteisesti. Haasteina ovat kuitenkin energiapuumarkkinoiden hajanaisuus ja käytössä olevat lukuisat mittayksiköt sekä maksuperusteet.Due to expanding use of forest chips in energy production, the trade in energy wood has increased considerably in Finland during the recent years. Currently, public information on forest chips prices andvolumes at the power plant gate exists, whereas official statistics on energy wood trade taking place in the forest end of the value chain are not available. However, as far as the efficient functioning and development of energy wood markets are concerned, reliable market information especially on the prices of energy wood is of critical importance. The Finnish Forest Research Institute (Metla) carried out a pre-feasibility study of practices prevailing in the energy wood markets, the information needs of market parties and the possibilities to start compiling trade statistics. The work was funded by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. According to the results, there is an actual need for statistics on energy wood trade and market parties have a positive attitude towards giving trade information for compilation of the statistics. However, the heterogeneity of the markets and the diversity of measures and terms of payments bring about extra challenges.
