The Bachelor’s thesis deals with bullying at school among children and youth. The idea for the topic came from commissioner Iittala comprehensive school. Iittala comprehensive school has classes from 1 to 9. This thesis complements a thesis of university of applied sciences which was made earlier.

The thesis was a practice based thesis. The purpose of the thesis was to prevent bullying in Iittala comprehensive school and intervene it by common group activities. The goal was to reduce bullying in Iittala comprehensive school and to make students think about the subject. The goal was also to develop skills of guidance as a public health nurse for avoiding bullying at school. The reducing of bullying happened by producing dramas and by the students’ own reflection if possible.

A Two-hour long drama workshop was implemented for the sixth class students in Iittala comprehensive school. After the workshop there was a discussion session about bullying at school with the students. The data collecting method was observation and collecting feedback from the students with surveys.

The students’ feedback showed that the workshop was a comfortable learning experience. The students learned how to intervene in bullying themselves. The workshop and the discussion session made the students think about what results bullying might have.

The theory part deals with different types of bullying, the results of bullying, the prevention and intervention of bullying at school and also the legislation that defines bullying at school.
