The goal of this thesis was to make a hands-on solution of how to renew monitoring for passive registration at Palkeet. After the new amendment came into effect in May 2016, the electronic recovery proceeding retriever does not get a report when the passive registration expires. Bookkeeping systems do not automatically make information about the expiration of passive registration, that is why the goal was to make a solution of how to stay aware of when the passive registration needs to be renewed.

The theoretical part of this thesis deals with the registration process through legislation as well as the registration practice. Also the role of the foreclosure in the registration practice is clarified. At the end of the thesis, it is reported how the debt collection act changed passive registration, and also the meaning of passive registration is described thoroughly.

The result of the thesis is an excel table on monitoring the expiration of passive registration, which is meant to help people who work among passive registration, until impediment certificates are transferred into an electronic form. The practical aspect has been emphasized by excluding irrelevant facts.
