The subject of this thesis is service design for the textile and clothing company, as well as a mobile application service concept development. The background and theoretical basis of the thesis are global phenomena: globalization, sustainable development, digitalization, and service optimization. The thesis examines the impact of these phenomena in the textile and clothing sector. Based on the theory of knowledge and values the aim is to plan a design studio's guiding principles and operational field. Slou design studio creates awareness of the textiles and clothing sector among the consumers and offers service design for companies operating in the field. Design studio’s first task, and one of the aims of the thesis is to design services for the Finnish clothing company Mori Collective.

The prospects, challenges and opportunities of the textile and clothing sector are discussed on the basis of the related literature and other theoretical knowledge. Service concepts are created using divergence thinking, visualization, and customer interviews. The methods of service design are exploited in conceptualization.

The results of this thesis include Slou design studio’s main principles and functions as well as five service concepts for Mori Collective. The result of one of the concepts is a mobile application interface design and a demo. The application demo is implemented in cooperation with the Smart Services Research Unit at Häme University of Applied Sciences and a student in Business Information Technology.
