The purpose of this thesis was to study the internationalization strategies and networking practices of small and medium-sized enterprises. The client of this thesis was Alliance of international universities, which was co-ordinated by Häme University of applied sciences.

The research methods included desk study research, case research and the analysis of documents. Primary data was collected through e-mail interviews. The Secondary data was collected from reliable publications and online sources.

The theory section consists of the internationalization strategies and networking practices of small and medium-sized enterprises. The theory section deals with different internationalization strategies for small and medium-sized enterprises.

The case company was e-Oppi Ltd from Finland. The company manufactures digital textbooks. E-Oppi has decided to head to the digital textbook market in Denmark. The objective of the research section was to examine market opportunities in Denmark. As requested by e-Oppi, the research section includes information about competitors and their products, possible networking partners and events where to introduce the materials of e-Oppi. There was also an investigation concerning the expenses of the translation from Finnish into Danish.

The results indicated that there is a real demand for e-Oppi in the market of digital textbooks in Denmark. If there is enough will, decisiveness, funding and cooperative partners are found, nothing is impossible.
