Harness racing is the second followed sport in Finland, and equestrianism overall is one of the top 10 hobbies in Finland. There are over 500 different stables in Finland that are providing riding school activities, and nine stables with pony trotting activities for children. Vermo trotting school was opened in 2016 and is the first trotting school in Finland that is providing activities also for adults.

The aim of this case study was to find out the level of customer satisfaction and possibilities of developing the service concept. The study was done for Ypäjä equine college since they own the Vermo trotting school. The data for this case study was collected by internet based questionnaire in spring 2018. The questionnaire was answered by 29 trotting school customers who mainly were adult women. This case study can also provide guidelines for possible new trotting schools in Finland.

The customers that answered the questionnaire were satisfied or very satisfied for the trotting school activities. Also the questionnaire provided information on some areas that are in need of improvement such as communication. The case study revealed also customer’s interest on new services such as ‘green care’-services, watching races together with customers and also additional courses or “demos” with visiting lecturers.
