Digitalization has made automation in processes a possibility. When speaking of financial management, the purchase to pay process is considered one of the most laborious processes in it. The case company of this thesis made the leap from an old manual purchase to pay process to a digitalized process in the beginning of year 2020.

The purpose of this thesis was to find out reasons behind this digitalization leap and to sort out how the purchase to pay process has changed and how it has developed or simplified the process. The aim was to find out the general contentment in the newly changed purchase to pay process.

The theoretical background consists of three main subjects including financial management systems, digitalized financial management and the process of digitalizing financial management. The theoretical basis was formed to support the information found in the thematic interview. In the interview the case company’s personnel working in the finance department was interviewed.

The results show that the digitalization of purchase to pay process has been a good decision. The process developed greatly when compared to the old state of things. Upgrading of the purchase to pay process faced some difficulties in the beginning. Learning a new process is a long project and in the future the process in question will develop even further.
