The aim of this thesis is to find out whether the website of the client organization, a Finnish forestry company, complies with the audit documentation Canadian CanopyStyle Audit Guidelines and Verification Framework, of the non-profit environmental organisation Canopy. The thesis bases on the audits conducted on the client and its supply chain, relating to forest certifications and their chain of custody. The essential content of the thesis is the knowledge base, which was created by examining forest certification criterias and related chains of custody as part of sustainability, as well as wood-based products from the perspective of the forest company and the auditors. The subject of the analysis are the requirements of Canopy for wood procurement in forest companies. The thesis compares the website of the client organization with the audit instructions based on Canopy’s FSC based certification criteria. As a result of the knowledge base and Canopy’s audit process, an Excel document about the coverage of the client’s website was formed in this thesis. The results of the comparison are presented as suggestions for improving the content and the readability of the website. In addition, the thesis includes a list of frequently asked questions (FAQ), which is a compilation of findings and proposals for measures based on the knowledge base. This listing can possibly be used when updating the client’s website. The aim of the environmental organization’s audits is to enable the protection of biodiversity in the world, to increase consumer knowledge and to promote sustainability, as well as to mitigate the effects of climate change. The client’s activities in wood procurement meet mostly the requirements of the audits. By updating the client’s website and its documentation, auditors and client stakeholders gain an insight into the client’s sustainability as a producer of wood-based materials.
