This functional thesis has been made as an assigment for VVO-yhtymä Oyj. The purpose of the thesis is to plan and execute a practical research about organizing an event and planning an event-based benefit model for VVO. The goal is to plan a working model of awarding VVO´s long-term residents by organizing pleasant events for them. The research based developmental methods are used in planning the model. The functional part of this thesis includes organizing the first event for long-term residents in Hämeenlinna on7th of March 2013.

The goal of the event is to organize a pleasant event for VVO's long-term residents in which they enjoy spending their time. The goal is also to make the long-term residents aware of their special importance to VVO as clients. Positive interaction both between the clients and between the clients and VVO is aspired. In the perspective of VVO the goals are to increase the loyalty of the clients, to improve the clients´ contentment and to increase the attractiveness of VVO as a provider of housing services.

A guide book of organizing similar events in the future based on both theoretical and practical knowledge has also been made. The report version of the thesis with its guide book operates as a baseline for organizing any future events. The guide book provides comprehensive information in a compact form about organizing events for long-term residents.

The event in Hämeenlinna was a success. The guests were very satisfied with the event. They hoped for more similar events. They also thought that the event influenced their customership with VVO in a positive way. The event fulfilled its goals excellently.
