This thesis was commissioned by Flowertrucks Oy. The company wanted a driver’s guidebook which they could hand out to their employees. Flowertrucks Oy is located in Tampere and operates regularly in Finland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Denmark and provides temperature-controlled transportation.

The theoretical part of this thesis presents different laws that affect transportation in general and specifically affect driving in different countries where the company works. Interviews for this thesis were conducted in 2013 individually with each person and also in small groups. Interviews gave a frame for the guidebook and also gave many practical tips and methods

A result of this thesis was a driver’s guidebook which can be given to every driver in Flowertrucks Oy. The guidebook includes useful tips and hints and simple guidance on how to work in different kinds of situations. The guidebook also reduces the inquiry phone calls to the dispatchers and therefore gives more time for the actual dispatching.
