Different Perspectives of Labour from Two Cemeteries in Helsinki Parish Union

This thesis is meant to give an enlightening perspective for the reader of what it takes to work in a cemetery. The questionnaire was distributed in the beginning of the working season to employees in two separate cemeteries belonging to Helsinki parish union. Both supervisors and employees at these cemeteries have given their valued input and communicated their own experiences while working for the parish. Their information and experiences are compiled with my own. The questionnaire asks of previous work experiences in the cemetery, current experiences, time spent in their field, what tools are needed for their jobs, changing of flowers for contract graves, climate change and its effects on working life, and communication methods. For confidentiality, names and municipality have been omitted. Working titles remain and are used to label the interviewed. There are insights to different areas of expertise, education that is required, differentiating working methods between employees, the evolution of labour and working ergonomics over the years and thoughts on how to potentially improve on some methods for the future. The outcome of this research is this miniature collective for anyone interested in cemetery labour.
